The development trend of connector plastics is mainly related to seven aspects: high flow, low dielectric properties, color requirements, waterproof, long-term temperature resistance, bio-environmental protection and transparency. The details are as follows:
1. High flow of connector plastic
Today's high temperature connectors are trending toward standard, high flow, low warpage, ultra high flow and low warpage. At present, foreign large-scale connector manufacturers are conducting research on ultra-high flow and low warpage materials. Although some ordinary materials are available, our domestic technology can meet the requirements. However, as the connector product volume and the distance between the terminals become smaller, the connector material is required to have high fluidity.
2. Low dielectric properties of connector plastics
A little understanding of electronic product knowledge knows that the transmission speed in electronic devices is very important (transmission speed is getting faster), and in order to increase the transmission speed, more and more high frequency products (higher and higher frequency) There are also requirements for the dielectric constant of the material. For the time being, the connector high temperature material only has LCP to meet the dielectric constant <3, and SPS can be used as an alternative, but the disadvantages are still many.
3. Connector plastic color requirements
Since the LCP of the connector material is dull, it is easy to have flow marks and the dyeing performance is not very good. Therefore, the development trend of LCP tends to be shiny, easy to match color, and does not change color during high temperature process, which can satisfy customers' demand for product color.
4. Connector plastic waterproof
Today's 3C products such as mobile phones are becoming more and more demanding for waterproofing. For example, the recent iPhone X waterproofing is also one of its highlights, so the popularity of electronic products in the future will certainly become higher and higher. At present, the main use of glue and silica gel to achieve waterproofing purposes.
5. Long-term temperature resistance of connector plastics
The connector plastic is resistant to high temperatures (long-term use temperature 150~180°C), creep resistance (125°C/72hrs under load), and ESD requirements (E6~E9).
6. Connector plastic bio-environmental protection
Because of the social environment, today's government advocates that manufacturing industries can use environmentally friendly materials for production. Therefore, many customers have this requirement for whether connector products use environmentally friendly bioplastics for production and processing. For example: bio-based materials (corn, castor oil, etc.) or recycled materials, because products made from biological or environmentally friendly materials can be accepted by the government and more people.
7. Connector plastic transparent
Some customers produce electronic products that want the products to be transparent. For example, you can add an LED below to make an indicator light or to make it look better. At this time, it is necessary to use high temperature and transparent plastic.
