Types of insulator materials for connectors

For connector manufacturing, any manufacturer needs raw materials to produce, and when selecting materials, different materials can bring different effects. If the customer needs connector products to be insulated, the manufacturer must use insulating materials.Then do you know what insulation materials are used for connectors? Below Konnra Electronics engineer will introduce some common insulation materials used by connector manufacturers.
      1. Nylon 66: good toughness, high moisture absorption rate, poor dimensional stability, easy to warp shape, can not withstand high temperature. Commonly used in DIP type connector manufacturing, divided into UL 94V-0 (milky white) and divided into UL 94V-2 ( Translucent color) Two grades can be added to the glass to improve mechanical properties and form warpage.

      2. PBT: High strength, abrasion resistance, low moisture absorption rate, high temperature resistance. It is often used in the manufacture of DIP connectors. Fiberglass can be added to improve mechanical properties.

      3. Nylon 46: Good toughness, good molding fluidity, second only to LCP, high moisture absorption rate, poor dimensional stability, high temperature resistance. Can be used in SMT type connectors. It is easy to foam after IR absorption.

      4. Nylon 6T: high temperature resistance, high strength, low water absorption, good dimensional stability. Suitable for SMT type connectors.

      5. Nylon 9T: High temperature resistance, high strength, water absorption lower than Nylon 6T, good dimensional stability and poor toughness, suitable for SMT type connectors.
Nylon 9T
      6. LCP: High temperature resistance, high strength, high fluidity, good dimensional stability, and poor bonding strength. Suitable for long, thin and small SMT connectors.
