TE launch micro-pitch FPC connector
In view of the current trend toward miniaturization of consumer devices, TE Connectivity, the original Tyco Electronics, today announced its latest 0.25 mm pitch flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector (FPC diagonal plug-in type).
Micro-pitch FPC connectors can be used on printed circuit boards that are smaller in size and more complex in circuit design. The launch of this product will further promote the development of miniaturization of consumer electronics such as mobile phones and digital cameras. Eric Himelright, Director of Product Management at TE, said: "Micro-pitch connectors can lay the same number of lines on smaller boards, saving valuable board space."
In addition to its smaller size, TE's 0.25 mm pitch FPC connector features a rotating rear lock box actuator (rear cover) design with lower contacts. The rotary rear lock (rear cover) connector accommodates both pick and place and is easy to operate, and provides better printed circuit adhesion. A solid box-shaped actuator better protects the connector and makes it easy to operate.
The most important design feature of TE's 0.25 mm pitch FPC connector is that it accepts printed circuits from a certain angle of insertion, rather than the traditional horizontal orientation, which makes PCB board design more flexible. Conventional FPC connectors can only accept circuits that are inserted horizontally, so it is impossible to install other components on the front end of the FPC connector. Therefore, FPC connectors are usually mounted on the edge of the PCB board, but this is not always true. The most convenient location.
“It’s not the same with TE’s 0.25 mm pitch FPC connector,” emphasized TE product manager Masaki Mukasa. “Because the printed circuit can be inserted from a certain angle, the connector can be mounted anywhere on the board, while other components can be mounted on the front of the FPC connector.”
